Providence Public Library is a 139-year-old nonprofit organization providing free public library services through print, recorded and digital collections, information resources, programs of interest and relevance, and expert staff. As the state's premiere personal learning institution, the Library is focused on building and strengthening our core mission and services for all Rhode Islanders -- expanding our reach and fostering critical connections with individuals and groups statewide -- to nurture and enhance the educational, historical and cultural fabric of Rhode Island. As a historic building on the National Register of Historic Places, the Library welcomes tourists for free guided architectural tours offered on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays* of each month. (*Call ahead to check that tour is running.) The Library's recently renovated historic spaces also serve as a popular event venue.

The premier 18th-century historic house and museum in the state, presenting important aspects of the social and cultural history of the period when our country was new. The Museum is maintained by the Rhode Island Historical Society. We are currently in our seasonal hours and only open on Saturdays from December 2019 until April 2020. Guided Tours may be at 10:30, 12:00, 1:30, & 3:00 pm on Saturdays but are subject to volunteer availability. Audio and Self Guided Tours are available from 10:00 until 3:15 PM. Last admission into the museum is at 3:30 pm. We have a free parking lot located off of Charlesfield Street. We hope to see you soon!

This innovative and internationally renowned museum showcases more than 80,000 works of art from Paul Revere's silver and caricatures of 18th century Europe, to French Impressionists and the avant-garde works of recent alumni. A 12th-century Japanese Buddha has its own room with benches for meditating.

The oldest Baptist church in America, gathered by Roger Williams in 1638. Open for tours: Monday - Friday 10AM - Noon and 1PM - 3PM and on Sunday immediately following the Worship Service Worship Service is at 11 AM September - May and at 10 AM June, July and August.

"How Do You See the World" is a montage of photos—a global portrait of faces from the pages of The Christian Science Monitor. It welcomes you to a new experience at the Christian Science Plaza. offering stories and experiences that explore progress and possibilities throughout the world as you consider your own place in it. Three different exhibits connect you to positive change flowing out of the inspired actions of everyday people in countries and cultures globally, including Boston’s iconic Mapparium™ experience. The three-story Mapparium globe shows the world at one moment in time—1935. A short narration lets you consider the world before World War II from an entirely different perspective—from the inside of the world looking out.

Highlights of this interactive museum include the "Science Playground," featuring giant soap bubble-making tools and the "New Balance Climb," which teaches kids the laws of physics while navigating through a two-story-high maze.

This Frederick Law Olmsted-designed park, famous for its Swan Boats, has over 600 varieties of trees and an ever-changing array of flowers. It is America's first public garden.

Vintage Toy Museum and Gift ShopThe Salem Toy Museum is a celebration of the classic toys we all grew up with. On display are many of your childhood favorites that are still popular today!
