Road trip from Grand Rapids to Cody

Founded in 2009, we started as the brainchild of three engineers living in Holland, Michigan. Two of us were devoted home brewers for years, working in a garage with a Sabco Brewmagic and perfecting our recipes. That half barrel system eventually turned into a three barrel system in a 3000 square foot pub with sixty seats. With an emphasis on quality ingredients, consistent recipes, and a passion for quality control, our three barrel system soon turned into a seven barrel system with a small canning line. Within three years of opening the pub, demand grew and we opened a production facility with a fifteen barrel brewhouse. A year later we moved out of the 3000 square foot pub into a 7000 square foot brewery with a full kitchen. Growth hasn’t come easy for us, but with a foundation built around quality, consistency, and a passion for good beer, Big Lake Brewing has grown more than we could have imagined and we’re excited to see what the future holds. Our story began thousands of years ago when glaciers cut through and deposited rich minerals creating a hilly moraine in Baroda, Michigan. Today, we have 45 acres of estate-grown grapes planted on our 75 acre farm. The soils are ideal, and the climate conditions are similar to Burgundy and Bordeaux, France. With our location being atop one of the highest points in Baroda and benefiting from the moderating influence of Lake Michigan, our vines are protected from frosts and enjoy a long growing season. Unique to our hilly location, our terraced vineyard blocks are a beautiful sight to be seen with stone lined terraces providing a picturesque setting. Exceptional wine comes from exceptional grapes. We hand-plant each vine and hand-nurture our grapes. Our wine makers combine traditional methods with the latest technological equipment, crafting wines that are rich, vibrant, complex, elegant, and full of flavor. We are proud to be a Michigan winery and look forward to your visit!

And it's located in downtown Rapid City, SD (only a half-hour from Mount Rushmore!) At the Pawnseum, you will not only view rare artifacts like The Friendship 7 Periscope Lens, The Icebox Nugget, and "Pawnzi", The World's Smallest Dog?, We feature an amazing collection of Native American artifacts, Western Historic items, and much, much more! Lots of reasonably-priced jewelry, musical instruments, general merchandise, and Pawnseum souveniers are on-hand. The World's Only Pawnseum is truly a FUN place to learn!
