Strey Cellars
Oxnard, California·

(8) review
The concept is to “stray from the norm.” Strey is anything but traditional; it embraces the industrial look and feel of the neighborhood and takes “modern” to the next level! The vibe is fresh and sleek with clicks and pops of color. The moment you grace that doorstep you are sure to be greeted with the warmest of welcomes. It’s about great wine and an awesome time; Owner operators, Scott and Katie, are serving it straight up with no frills. Strey Cellars is unequivocally a labor of love from the inside to outside the bottle! With meticulous attention to detail and their small case production you are certain to being drinking something awesome. Single red varietals prove to be the specialty at Strey but are in no way limiting to the types of wine winemaker Scott Ballew thirsts to share with local and visiting wine enthusiasts alike. Feel your heart smile at first sip. Strey is your everyday wine. You deserve it! Taste the wine, tour the winery, join the Nation and as always… deviate responsibly!

Ellwood Mesa Open Space area (which includes the Goleta Butterfly Grove) and parking lot are currently closed due to impacts from the February 2024 storm. Many trees have fallen and there is the potential for more to fall. Thank you for your cooperation. Monarch butterflies migrate each year to the Goleta Butterfly Grove to find protection from freezing temperatures and winter storms. They can usually be seen here from mid-October through February. Monarch populations have varied greatly in recent years, from almost none in 2020-2021 to over 26,000 in 2023-2024. Eucalyptus trees in the grove have suffered greatly over the last decade from beetles, extended drought and winter storms. The City of Goleta is working to enhance the butterfly habitat, protect the public, and reduce the risk of fire. Visitor information and current monarch counts can be found at GoletaButterflyGrove.com.

Soil. Vines. Wines. In this order. We are resolute in our passion to produce hand made, minimally invasive wines that both whisper and shout about the terrior from which they are grown. The Ampelos vineyard is sustainable, organic and biodynamic certified and our focus on a natural process in evident in every aspect of our winemaking. Located in the cool coastal climate of California's central coast our 82 acre vineyard is part of the breathtaking Sta. Rita Hills AVA and planted with 27 acres of vines. Our primary focus is on Pinot Noir, but we also grow and produce small batches of Syrah, Grenache, and Viognier.
