Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum

The Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum is reopened, following a $29 million world-class transformation. Visitors can expect a cinematic experience of some of the most dramatic chapters of world history, from the Great War to WWII to the Red Scare and the Korean War, plus, the creation of the State of Israel, Civil Rights advancements, the extreme makeover of The White House and, of course, Truman's Whistle Stop campaign and 1948 victory. Hailed as "the new standard for presidential libraries" the new museum is a must-see experience for all ages! The Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum is one of 15 presidential libraries operated by the National Archives and Records Administration. Pioneer Trails Adventures

We are open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weather permitting, through December 31. We tour Frontier Independence where three trails began, two Civil War battles were fought and one President began his march to the White House. The Silverstein Eye Centers Arena is a mid-size arena located just 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City. The venue opened in 2009 and has since become a premier destination for live entertainment and sports. The arena is currently home to two professional sports teams. The Missouri Mavericks, members of the ECHL and Kansas City's only pro hockey club. Also the Missouri Comets, members of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) and Kansas City's only pro indoor soccer club. Vaile Mansion

The historic Mansion is beautifully restored and open for tours. Built by Colonel and Mrs. Harvey Vaile in 1881, it was "the most princely house and the most comfortable home in the entire west," the Kansas City Times reported in 1882. Situated on North Liberty Street, a mile north of the historic Independence Square, the three-story Gothic-like structure today sits in solitary splendor, an architectural anomaly among the surrounding Midwestern homes.
