The Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum is reopened, following a $29 million world-class transformation. We are open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weather permitting, through December 31. We tour Frontier Independence where three trails began, two Civil War battles were fought and one President began his march to the White House. The Silverstein Eye Centers Arena is a mid-size arena located just 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City. The historic Mansion is beautifully restored and open for tours. Built by Colonel and Mrs. Harvey Vaile in 1881, it was "the most princely house and the most comfortable home in the entire west," the Kansas City Times reported in 1882. Situated on North Liberty Street, a mile north of the historic Independence Square, the three-story Gothic-like structure today sits in solitary splendor, an architectural anomaly among the surrounding Midwestern homes.
