Originally a school for white males only, the academy was turned over to African-Americans in the early 1900s. This restored National Register building serves as a cultural and heritage museum where visitors can learn about the importance of the United States Colored Troops and the legacy of African-American education in our country. Bradley Academy Museum & Cultural Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am until 4 pm. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, and $1 for children under 12.

Chattanooga is the Birthplace of the Medal of Honor. Come visit the the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center in downtown Chattanooga and learn about the history of our nation's highest military award for valor, from the First Medals awarded for action in and around Chattanooga during 1863 to the present day. Through the inspirational stories of valor, the Heritage Center works to educate Americans about the six character traits associated with the Medal of Honor and inspire visitors to develop the highest qualities of character demonstrated by its recipients: Patriotism, Citizenship, Courage, Integrity, Sacrifice and Commitment.
