The B&O Railroad Museum, a full affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and the birthplace of American Railroading, is home to the oldest, most comprehensive collection of railroad artifacts in the Western Hemisphere including an unparalleled roster of 19th and 20th century railroad equipment. The organization has operated continuously for over 100 years making Vagabond Players the oldest continuously operating community theater in the United States. Founded in the early 1900’s as a part of the vanguard of America’s “Little Theater” movement, the organization has called its current location, the Vagabond Theatre, home for over 40 years. We have been an important part of the rich history of Fells Point and Baltimore City’s cultural landscape.

Mt. Cuba Center is a botanic garden that highlights the beauty and value of native plants to inspire conservation. Once the private estate of Pamela and Lammot du Pont Copeland, Mt. Cuba opened for general admission in 2013 and now spans 50 acres of gardens and over 1,000 acres of natural lands. It features captivating blooms along garden pathways in formal and woodland settings, picturesque meadows and ponds with stunning vistas, and three miles of scenic trails. Mt. In 1906, industrialist Pierre du Pont (1870-1954) purchased a small farm near Kennett Square, PA, to save a collection of historic trees from being sold for lumber. Today, Longwood Gardens is one of the world’s great horticultural displays, encompassing 1,077 acres of dazzling gardens, woodlands, meadows, fountains, 10,010-pipe Aeolian organ and 4.5-acre conservatory. Longwood continues the mission set forth by Mr. du Pont to inspire people through excellence in garden design, horticulture, education and the performing arts, through programming that includes exhibitions, musical performances by leading artists, renowned horticulture education programs, horticulture research, environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Visit John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum! Come enjoy 10 miles of walking trails through wooded forests, an impoundment pond, and 300 acres of the largest remaining freshwater tidal marsh in PA. Visitors can also experience the marsh on the water through 4.5 mile of Darby Creek by canoe or kayak. Stop by the front desk to borrow binoculars or fishing rods. Refuge trails are open every day from sunrise to sunset, free of charge. The Visitor Center is open daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The visitor center building is closed for all Federal holidays however the trails remain open. Darby Creek is tidal and navigable only within 2 hours before and after high tide. Boat Launch is located at the trailhead of Dike Trail. Visitors must provide their own canoe/kayak and life vests. John Heinz NWR offers year-round free recreational and educational programs.
