St. Michael's Fortress

St. Michael’s Fortress is the oldest one in Šibenik. It was first mentioned in 1066 and it is the place where the city was born. Fortress was built to control and defend the Šibenik lagoon and the mouth of the river Krka. The strength of the ramparts made the fortress the dominant protector of the area. Today St. Michael’s Fortress is important cultural and historical monument. You can tour the fortress with an audio guide and view 3D mapping projections in its interior. The fortress is mostly recognizable by its outdoor stage which became one of the most prestigious regional stages in a short period of time.

St Nicholas’ Fortress at the entrance of St Anthony’s Channel in Sibenik is a unique monument of Renaissance maritime fortification architecture and a superb example of our architectural heritage. In 2017 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the nomination ''The Defence System of the Republic of Venice between the 16th and 17th Centuries''. St Nicholas' Fortress can be visited only by boat organized by the Public Institution Nature of the Sibenik-Knin County. The boat departs from the port of Sibenik. A visit to the fortress lasts 2 hours and includes a boat trip from the port of Sibenik to the fortress with the assistance of tour escorts and with multimedia guides. Experience a unique panoramic view of the city of Sibenik from the sea, a boat trip through the buffer zone of St Nicholas' Fortress as part of the significant landscape ''Channel-Port" of Sibenik. Church of Saint Barbara

The church of St. Barbara is a monument of gothic architecture. It is a single-naved church. The building of the church started at about 1400. Above the main entrance there is a gothic niche with a sculpture of St. Nicholas, the work of the Italian artist Bonino from Milan. Today there is a little museum in the church of St. Barbara, housing some very important art works from the period between the 14th and the 17th century.

St.Lawrence Church and Monastery

St. Lawrence Church was built in the second half of the 18th century for purposes of the Franciscan Order. On the church facade, which ends with a gable, a profiled portal with a humble Baroque transom can be found. Placed in the tympanum of the lateral entrance is a small sculpture of St. Lawrence from 1720. Across from the church is the Franciscan monastery from 1650. Its main building is Foscolo's Palace, the nicest example of housing architecture representing Sibenik from the 15th century.
