South Somerset District Council refurbished the venue following a petition signed by local residents, and Westlands is now a bright and bustling venue offering a space for local residents, visitors and businesses to meet, take part in classes or attend functions and events. Being managed by the same team managing The Octagon Theatre, Westlands offers a complimentary programme of fantastic live events including a monthly comedy club, cinema screenings (featuring 36 comfortable sofas), party nights, festivals and more. The venue is open Monday - Saturday offering visitors free parking, free wifi and a great place to have lunch and meet friends. Westlands boasts a range of versatile function spaces that are perfect for meetings, conferences, parties and events – these spaces are available to hire. Regular classes also take place at the venue including ballroom dancing on our stunning dance floor.

Yeovil Railway Centre opens regularly (but see website for full details of dates and times, also prices and attractions as these vary) for Steam Train Days using own industrial steam engine. Passengers travel in either a historic brake van or coach. Special events also feature as well as Santa Specials in December. Model Railway, turntable demonstrations, Miniature Railway etc on site. Main line steam engines also visit on occasions to use the turntable and other facilities.Special viewing platform allows visitors to see the turning at close quarters. Shop is open Sunday mornings (10am to noon) and also when events are planned. Refreshments during events only. Disabled access to train via ramp (only when coach is in use - see website. Limited to standard wheelchairs and not heavy electric wheelchairs) also to Visitor Centre/refreshments and Shop. Some areas not accessible but working on improving this.
