East Jersey Old Town Village is comprised of reconstructed and replica 18th and 19th century structures that represent architecture typical of farm and merchant communities once found in the Raritan Valley. Buildings include a tavern, blacksmith shop, wheelwright shop, schoolhouse, barracks, church, the homes of early settlers, and other outbuildings. Visitors can explore the site and meet the historical interpreters that bring the Village to life through their trades and crafts. A gateway site for the Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area, situated along the Washington-Rochambeau National Historic Trail, the Village offers award winning exhibits, living history, and seasonal programs. The Cornelius Low House/Middlesex County Museum is a Historic National Register home built in 1741 for Cornelius Low, a wealthy merchant of Raritan Landing. The home is one of the best examples of Georgian architecture in New Jersey. The Low House has a dual purpose, to interpret the history of this fine structure, but also to research and mount rotating exhibits about New Jersey history. Recent exhibits have included a Centennial display on New Jersey during World War I, and an exhibit on New Jersey Diners. Visit the current exhibit 'Micah Williams: Portrait Artist' through June 30, 2023.
