The Mabel Tainter

The Mabel Tainter Theater is a travel destination in western Wisconsin not to be missed. Built in 1889, this 261-seat “crown jewel” Victorian theater in Menomonie boasts hand-stenciled walls and ceilings, marble staircase and floors, stained glass windows, four fireplaces and the original Steere & Turner tracker pipe organ. Formed in 1950, the Dunn County Historical Society discovers, preserves, interprets and shares knowledge about the history of Dunn County and its role in Wisconsin, and inspires interest in the past. The Rassbach Museum, in Menomonie's Wakanda Park, is the Society's home. It tells intriguing, ever-changing stories of an area of Wisconsin with a long and rich history — from the mound builders of a thousand years ago to Dunn County's friendly communities of today. Fulton's Workshop showcases the work of Fulton Holtby, a mechanical and forensic engineer, and expert craftsman.
