This festival takes places every year in early April in Matsudo city, which has many famous cherry blossom sites. In particular, Tokiwadaira Sakura-dori (meaning "cherry blossom road"), is a 3km-long cherry blossom tree-lined avenue, which plays host to Tokiwadaira Cherry Blossom Festival. The trees here are over 50 years old and the road has been selected as one of the top 100 in Japan. During the festival, stalls line the road beneath the tunnel of cherry blossoms in full bloom. The place bustles with people enjoying a host of events, including a parade of portable shrines and floats, dancing, and wind instrument performances.
