Tegg’s Nose Country Park
Buxton Old Road, Macclesfield SK11 0AP England
Discover Tegg's Nose Country Park and experience Cheshire's wild hill country where rock dominates the landscape. Dry stone walls and sturdy barns add to the dramatic character of the steeply sided valleys while many of the hill tops are pitted with old quarries. Quarrying was certainly happening at Tegg's Nose in the 1500's and continued until 1955. Men blasted, hammered, hacked and chiselled away at the rock in harsh conditions for low wages. Today nature has softened the scars of industry and there is plenty to see at Tegg's whatever time of year. You don't have to go far to enjoy exhilarating views over the Cheshire Plain and on a clear day you can see Liverpool's cathedrals and Welsh hills beyond. The car park provides an excellent base for numerous walks and throughout the year there are many events taking place at the visitor centre.

The Forest Distillery
Cat & Fiddle, Macclesfield SK11 0AR England
The Forest Distillery is the UK's Highest Altitude Distillery based at the old Cat & Fiddle above Macclesfield Forest. It is here that the Bond family and a small team of weasels daily distill Forest Gin & Forest Whisky of the very highest quality. We use organic and foraged ingredients where possible in our products, and all water used in the process comes from our own natural spring. Our gin is recognised as one of the world's finest spirits, having won an unprecedented two separate double-gold medals at the San Francisco Spirit Awards. Forest Gin is THE ONLY gin to have ever been awarded two separate Double-Gold Medals at the awards. We are a tiny, independent distillery, and between our little team of weasels, we continue to produce our products in the same ways that we did at home back in 2014, using pestle & mortars and tiny pot stills. We forage for our ingredients regularly in the forest and hope you love our spirits as much as we love making them.
