The complex topic of manorialism, an important part of early medieval social structure, is being explained on the accessible 1:1 model covering an area of 4.1 hectares. This happens by means of an ideal-typical central yard of the 8/9th century. Additionally, Lauresham also represents a forum of experimental archaeological research for testing different mechanic & agricultural work techniques. Based on recent research results in settlement archaeology a team of experienced craftsmen established a building ensemble under supervision of academic bodies. This includes living and economic buildings, barns, and magazines as well as a chapel. In addition to these there are different kinds of economic useful areas – meadows, fields & gardens and livestock.
