Liverpool Cathedral

The Cathedral was only completed in 1978. It was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott when he was only 22 years old. It is a great space, without pillars or pews, the space is able to host huge concerts, exhibitions and fine dining on the main floor. The tower is 110m high and is the best view in the city.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions the children'g gallery is currently closed and our Medieval and Rensaissance galleries are closed for refurbishment. Special collections and rare books are held in the historic Oak Room and Hornby Library where exhibitions can be seen. Tate Liverpool is now open at RIBA North, Mann Island, while our Royal Albert Dock home is temporarily closed for redevelopment. Our new space is much smaller than our building on the Dock. Visitors can enjoy two small galleries and a family area. We have an always on family activity alongside bookable talks, tours and creative workshops. All activity is inspired by the unique collections held by Tate and RIBA. You can still enjoy high-quality food, drinks and gifts as our gallery shop and café are open and ready to welcome visitors.
