The city of kamaishi is known for revolutionizing the iron and steel industry after Takato Oshima succeeded in the continuous pro-duction of iron from iron ore with a Western-style blast furnace on December first,1857.This museum,which opened in 1985,commemorates the outstanding achievement by Oshima and his colleagues,and keeps their legacy alive for the future generations.
