Welcome to the West Coast Treetop Walk and Tower Zipline! Our attraction opened its doors on December 15th, 2012, and was built on what was once farmland. It only took 5 months from excavation to opening to complete the construction of the Walkway. The Walkway was made in Australia and then brought to the West Coast and assembled using cranes and 13,500 bolts, taking only 6 weeks to put it all together. Our structure is based on four previous structures designed by the same engineer and architect team. These other structures include the Valley of the Giants, Tahune, Otway Fly, and Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk, all located in Australia. Experience the thrill of our 425m long West Coast Tower Zipline, reaching speeds of over 60km/hr and standing at a height of 45m or 15 storeys above the ground, with a ride time of 40 seconds. The West Coast Tree Top Walk and Tower Zipline is suitable for ages 6 to 106 and is an exciting, educational and must-do attraction for any traveler.

Welcome to The National Kiwi Centre The National Kiwi Centre is situated in the heart of Hokitika in an undercover facility that provides viewing of kiwi in our nocturnal house that replicates their natural environment. During your visit you can take part in feeding the giant eels (10am, 12 noon and 3pm daily). The eels are approximately 85 to 100 years old. After the Eel feedings you can see the Kiwi being feed. view the tuatara, New Zealands oldest living dinosaur. Try your hand at catch and release crawly fishing fun for all ages . We have lots of other fish and creatures to look at. And it's all inside so no getting wet on that rainy day

Our research Centre remains open Monday through to Thursday, 9am - 5pm by appointment only. Hokitika Museum staff are as busy as ever, working behind the scenes to care for the vast collection of treasures belonging to the people of Westland, including new items that have recently been donated. Staff are involved in planning new exhibits for the Museum once it reopens.
