It was built by Fâtih Sultan Mehmed together with Çimenlik Castle (Kal'a-i Sultâniyye) to keep the sea passage under control on the Rumeli side of the Dardanelles. Tursun Bey, one of the historians of the period, writes that after the conquest of Istanbul, two fortresses were built opposite each other in Eceovası Mevkii, the narrowest part of the Bosphorus, one was named Kilîdü'lbahr and the other Sultâniye, and cannons were placed in these fortresses. In his Historia, Kritovulos, while talking about the events of 1463, states that Navy Commander Yâkub Bey, who was the Governor of Gallipoli and Bolayır, was assigned to the construction of these castles, and that the construction was completed while describing the events of 1464-65. Kilitbahir Castle Museum is a museum where Ottoman castle life is exhibited in general.

Eceabat 17900 Turkiye

It was opened on June 7, 2012 at Kabatepe Harbor in order to contribute to the development of the Çanakkale spirit. Consisting of 11 separate screening halls, a 2-storey War Materials Exhibition Hall and technical infrastructure units, the center is 8,600 m2 in size. It reflects the important moments of the Çanakkale Wars to its visitors with advanced simulation techniques. 60-minute screenings in 11 different halls are ticketed at the entrance. Each session is limited to a maximum of 50 people. Visitors are advised to make a reservation in advance to ensure availability. Entrance fee is charged.
