The Tasmanian Arboretum is a 66 hectare botanical tree park and nature reserve in Tasmania's North West. A great place to enjoy trees of the temperate world, wildlife, including platypus (we are the best place in Australia to view them in the wild) and native birds, with over 80 species having been recorded. Come for a few hours or the whole day to explore and relax. Only 12 kilometres from Devonport and a short drive to Sheffield, the town of murals. The Arboretum is set in a peaceful and beautiful valley, offering picnic shelters, two with coin-operated electric barbecues and a platypus observatory and bird hide on the shore of Founders' Lake. Cultural and natural heritage combine in the Limestone Heritage Walk, a self-guided walk linking the geology with a century of human activity contributing to colonial and national development. Home Hill

This fascinating National Trust property was home to Prime Minister Joseph Lyons and Dame Enid Lyons together with their 12 children. Built by them in 1916 Home Hill was the heart of the family's life and contains a rich collection of personal material. A guided tour of the property provides an unexpected insight into Australian political life during the momentous events of the mid twentieth century. The Devonport Regional Gallery presents an annual program of exhibitions, education and public programs including events and workshops, and contributes to the cultural, social and educational life of the local community, boasting an impressive collection of fine art with a focus on Tasmanian contemporary art, craft and design. In the Main & Upper Gallery spaces, exhibitions from the Gallery's Permanent Collection, staff-curated exhibitions and touring exhibitions are displayed. The Little Gallery showcases the work of emerging Tasmanian artists with a focus on artists from the North West Region. The Devonport Regional Gallery evolved from The Little Gallery, which was founded by Jean Thomas in 1966. The Little Gallery was situated in a weatherboard building behind the Baptist Church (built 1904) in Stewart Street, which became the home of the Gallery until 2018. The Gallery then relocated to the heritage-listed building of the paranaple arts centre on Rooke Street in November 2018.
