The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is an air and space museum dedicated to NH space pioneers Christa McAuliffe (NASA's 1st Teacher-in-Space) and Admiral Alan Shepard (America's 1st astronaut and, as Apollo XIV Commander, one of only 12 human beings to have walked on the Moon). This science museum has just upgraded its planetarium to a 10K system, one of only 3 in North America. It features an observatory, interactive indoor and outdoor exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space science, summer STEM camps for kids ages 5 - 14, and special stargazing and science talks and workshops the 1st Friday night of each month. Starlight Cafe and Science Playground both open on July 1, 2023. Family memberships are $100. Admission is $12 for adults, $11 for students & seniors, $9 for kids ages 3 - 12, free for kids ages 0-2. BLUE STAR Museum: free admission for active duty military and their families May 20-Labor Day; Museums for All: free admission for SNAP/EBT holders.
