Stretching just over three miles, these spectacular caves beneath the hills east of Nerja contain impressive stalactite and stalagmites formations. Discovered by accident in 1959, the cave has many well-marked routes, though not all are open to the public because of conservation and archaeological efforts. Cave paintings, fossils and skeletal remains have been excavated here, which you can find displayed at the Nerja Museum. Hop on the red tourist train to get to the caves from Nerja. During peak seasons, opt for skip-the-line tickets to jump ahead or take an exclusive night tour for fewer crowds. – Tripadvisor
