Museo Benozzo Gozzoli
Via Agostino Testaferrata 31, 50051, Castelfiorentino Italy
Benozzo Gozzoli is the “genius loci” of the Valdelsa. From San Gimignano to Certaldo to Castelfiorentino, he depicted the venerable bell towers and proud civic towers that populate his native land. Benozzo was happy in the Valdelsa. The people appreciated his painting which was both cultured and “popular”, capable of charming and educating with grace and knowledge. More than five centuries have passed, but Benozzo still lives in the hearts and minds of the locals. From generation to generation, the popularity, the love, and the thanks for the artist that worked for popes in Rome and the Medici in Florence—but that was also attracted to the rustic beauty of this valley over any other place in all of Italy—has made it down to the locals and city administrators of today. This is why a museum dedicated to Benozzo was created in Castelfiorentino. The museum is fully accessible to physical and sensory disabilities , it possesses a tactile exploration path usable by anyone in range.
