Bethlem Royal Hospital was founded in 1247 and was the first institution in the UK to specialise in the care of the mentally ill. The hospital continues to provide in-patient care as part of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and has been based in south London since 1930. Situated within the hospital grounds, the Museum moved into a specially renovated stunning Art Deco building in 2015, shared with the Bethlem Gallery, and formally opened by artist Grayson Perry in March 2015. The museum cares for an internationally renowned collection of archives, art and historic objects, which together offer an unparalleled resource to support the history of mental healthcare and treatment. Bethlem Museum of the Mind is governed by a registered charity, the Bethlem Art and History Collections Trust (charity number 1190303). Founded in 1910 Langley Park is a fine 18 hole parkland golf course established in 1910. We are a former British Open qualifying venue and provide a well maintained and challenging place to play golf. Gallery Seventeen has evolved into a comprehensive art centre near Beckenham Junction. Not only is there a wide range of local and international art, ceramics designed & made on the premises and a picture framing workshop, you can also realise your artistic talents learning to paint, or making ceramics in the teaching studio. We have over 17 years of experience to call on and we will be pleased to talk with you on any aspect of our art or framing services. We offer a bespoke framing service with expert and creative input, individual advice, available to conservation standards. We have an on site teaching studio that offers weekly ceramics, drawing and watercolour classes. We hold classes daytime and evenings, plus ceramic weekend courses. All classes are suitable for beginners as well as the more experienced artist.
