The Museum's aim is to preserve, conserve and disseminate the cultural heritage and tradition of Cephalonia, along with the elements that give evidence of the Ionian civilization, with the particularities of that social era, especially during the foreign occupations (1204-1864) as well as the portrayal of the island before the earthquakes of 1953.

Cephalonia Botanica presents many of the plants of the Ionian flora in a natural setting with a delightful stream runing though the center. Formerly a neglected olive grove, the garden is an initiative of the Focas-Cosmetatos Foundation. Today it is a place dedicated to the display and conservation of the native flora, also a place of tranquility and relaxation. The ticket price includes admission to the Focas-Cosmetatos Collection next to the main square in Argostoli. NOTE: Last admission half an hour before closure.
