Alcaudete Castle, the largest in the province of Jaén and one of the best preserved and restored in Spain, is located in the heart of our town. Built in the 13th century by the Order of Calatrava, it is surrounded by an Almohad citadel from the 12th century and the city walls from the same period. It contains the CIOMC and is restored and furnished as it was in the second half of the 13th century. Next to the Castle, Alcaudete offers the visitor a multitude of elements of interest. -Monuments: the churches of Santa María, San Pedro, el Carmen, Santa Clara or La Fuensanta; nobles houses; the Santa Catalina cemetery and an immensity of places to discover. -Customs: Holy Week, Royal Fair or Fiestas Calatravas, show customs and traditions full of idiosyncrasies. -Gastronomy: mantecados, sausages, typical dishes or extraordinary oil that captivates the most demanding palates. -Nature: mountains, lagoons or rivers, to experience them.
